At a little under 11,500' in elevation, Hartenstein Lake in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, just a stone's throw east of the Continental Divide, near Buena Vista, Colorado.

This easy to moderately difficult hike, approximately 7.5 miles round trip, starts on the Browns Pass Trail at the well-marked Denny Creek trailhead.

To get there: Follow Cottonwood Pass Road, (Chafee County Road 306) about 11 miles up from the traffic light at West Main Street and U.S. 24 in Buena Vista.

Happy trails!
