Re: “Rick Perry's facts lacking in 'truthiness'

This article is not accurate. It is true that Perry said he was lobbyed by the Cancer victim. But he didn't say the cancer victim visited him prior to signing the order. She was lobbying the legislature not to overturn it. Apparently (at that time) she also lobbyed Gov. Perry to try and maintain his support on the measure (even though he had already signed the original order) since it was controversial. The author fails to note that this cancer victim testified that cervical cancer is a horrible, painful disease and that she hoped the vaccine could be available to women who might not otherwise be able to get it. Unless the vaccine is required with an opt-out (which it did have), some insurance companies won't pay for it. Ultimately, Perry did NOT fight the legislature in overturning the mandate (despite being lobbyed by the cancer victim) and the vaccine never went into effect.

I think it is interesting that the author of this article is a Democrat who was a former opponent of Gov Perry's in a different race. Furthermore, the greedy trial lawyers in Texas hate Perry for passing tort reform. They are working on a national level to try and stop him before he can even get started.
