Re: “Painting hits a nerve for Air Force Academy grads

ROTC, followed by 25 years service in the USAF - currently working as an AF Civilian in the greater DC area. In 33 years of association with the US Air Force, I have never encountered any of the "preaching" or coercion that I see being touted in forums such as this. I can't say it doesn't happen, as I did not attend the Academy, but I've served with many who did... and in all our discussions of religion, philosophy, and which commissioning source was better, it never came up in conversation. Heck, as a practicing Episcopalian, it took me nearly 3 weeks to locate the Episcopal chaplain at the Pentagon... and that was during Lent. I'd think if the AF was so doubled over under religious assertion that he would have been easier to find. I tend to agree with Flyer22 on the interpretation of "faith" in context. After all, the Code of Conduct, bullet 4 tells us to keep faith with our fellow prisoners (in a POW situation.) I'm betting no one is railing about changing the wording there.
Oh - and as for the choice of the chapel... speaking solely as a person who has never visited the Academy, I can tell you that the unique architectural design of the building makes it the single most identifiable landmark on the Academy grounds.
