Historic Bridges of Manitou Springs

When: March 21-Aug. 15 2014

Fact: The Cliff House in Manitou was a hotel before Colorado was a state. Fact: Manitou was officially certified by the state as a city on Aug. 6, 1950. Fact: Today's a fine day to visit the Manitou Springs Heritage Center (517 Manitou Ave.,, where you can learn more about Colorado Springs' weird little neighbor to the west. Take in photos and artifacts relating to its characters, like Fred Barr, or the less-animate bridges, the subject of the Center's newest exhibit. And thank God for them. You in? The Center's open from noon to 4 p.m., and admission's free. — Edie Adelstein
