Re: “Identity thieves want to get to know you, all too well

It's a sad world when we have to spend so much time in a defensive posture just to peruse the net or do some online enjoyment. Some good warnings though there are so many hacks out there you can never be safe.

Re: “The silver lining of a global malware attack

No offense but bootleg copies are more than capable of getting updates. One- they use KMS to activate and look legit to Windows servers.
2- you can download updates. Often from the same places the bootleg versions are downloaded from and not a torrent system where you probably have a dirty copy of the OS already. A lot of people using bootleg copies that are able to get around the activation on KMS, etc., are getting updates as they please.

I won't say how I know but I can assure you- I and the folks I know have any updates we care to have...

Re: “Virus, phishing and ransomware — oh my!

I used to like AVG but I've found it is has become more annoying lately. Actually, most of them seem to have.
I like Avast myself. I just with the pop ups were less often. I cannot stand Norton anymore.

I love my Ubuntu machine. I never get malware or virii. It does what I need but the big players don't play well on it sometimes. My opinion anyway.

Re: “Dave Vanian and The Damned keep punk alive

Well we do not have The Stooges anymore pardon me as I cry a bit. Glad The Damned are still around more or less. The days of good punk is tough to come by at least the real stuff and not just knock offs.

Re: “Electronic add-ons provide more streaming options than you could ever watch on cable or satellite

I know you mentioned XboxOne but for gamers it really is a good way to go I believe. Well at least for us that like to play games online. You get a lot of option once you are subscribed. I realize that is more money but I pay for it anyways so I can play online. The system is not complete without it really.

Re: “Digital video providers could be the end of your cable bill

I've been trying out DirecTV Now. You can get a subset of channels via the Internet. It's more money than SlingTV. I like the line up more but it has some problems at times. Also issues with the big channels like cbs and abc.
I may drop it but it's good to see there are options.

Re: “ISPs are set to sell your personal data to the highest bidder, how can you stop them?

Trump is scum. It's all big money. Thankfully it sounds we have more options than you do in the Springs. We worry that the monopolies will trample on us. Just a few of us in an apartment here and we can barely afford this mess and we run out of data. I guess we best get a better social life. Still b.s.
Time we find other ways to get what we need. I've been to Tokyo and they have gigabit broadband for cheap and unlimited. Why is it so backwards in this country?
Go Bernie!
