Hops N Drops feels like 21st century Applebee's, which may sound like a threat coming from an industry-killing millennial, but it's not. The chain specializes in part in "icy drops," lemon drop variants and other cocktails served in ice cups. When we see the $10 price tag, we're put off, expecting a novelty shot, but they're full-sized cocktails. A server-recommended peach drop, made with flavored vodka and muddled peach, drinks friendly and fruity in the sugar-rimmed ice cup, basically good. Aside from a Left Hand Milk Stout served too cold to taste the roasty malt, basically good describes the whole meal. An avocado chicken salad bears mildly seasoned chicken breast on "Baja" black beans, corn, avocado slices and roasted peppers with greens, fine overall with avocado ranch dressing. Big Tony's BBQ Mac, full of carnitas, bacon and caramelized onions, rates fine and fatty under a melted cheese cap, though barbecue sauce atop adds dissonant sweetness.
