Idea Con 2016

When: Sat., June 4, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. 2016

With Denver Comic Con just a couple weeks away, people are already sewing up holes in their Starfleet uniforms and choosing the correct shade of blue body paint for their X-men cosplays, all in eager anticipation of a nerdy good time. If you're among these folks and can't wait a moment longer for convention season, you're in luck. Today is Pueblo's Idea Con, a fandom/tech/art convention on a smaller scale than Denver, but with plenty of geekery to get up to. Panels by authors and artists, Minecraft gaming sessions, a gadget and robot "petting zoo," drone demonstrations, a cosplay contest (with more than 26 categories), vendor booths — it's the whole shebang! And it's both kid- and adult-friendly. Best part is it's free to attend, which means those of us who are too broke for the big-time cons can still have a blast. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Rawlings Library, 100 Abriendo Ave., Pueblo, 719/562-5600, pueblolibrary.org. — Alissa Smith
