Twice a surrogate stem cells spokesperson for the GW Bush White House, James ended six years of biotech activism at the forefront of the nation's stem cell debates when he realized his social allies in government and religion intended to use the same tactics to exploit and ruin the environment as they successfully used to hoodwink the public over stem cells. Paralyzed since 1997, he can be found (when it's cool enough) pushing his wheelchair through the Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, or Old Colorado City. He blogs at Quantum Fires on Wordpress and is about to publish The Sibyl Reborn: a contemporary retelling of the 'Cassandra' myth as she battles her ancient curse in the mountains west of Denver to save her species from enslavement and her planet from her species.

Re: “Three consultants to present Drake proposals next Friday

If credible technological advances, which were previously assessed by NASA, MIT, the U.S. Air Force, and are currently in R&D by several transportation corporations and commercial transformer makers, could make closing Drake doable while decreasing costs and increasing electrical output, how could this information be presented to the Town Council or Utilities Board?

Re: “Letters: Fracking, guns and robots

Kudos for Lenora Degen for voicing the exact and unspeakable truth (literally--in the council chambers of the present City Council of Colorado Springs) concerning fracking and council plans to sell out our local environmental future, the public's health, and the region's water supply. If the Colorado Springs City Council does not know the truths about fracking re its toxic effects on lives, nature, vegetation, ground water, and property values, it's because it refuses to listen.

Regarding the supposed energy void that would result from decommissioning the Martin Drake Coal-Fired Power Plant...

For the past ten years, a Canadian inventor has fought to call attention to his amazing discoveries in electrical power generation and usage. Simply put, the inventor, Thane Heins of Ottawa, has discovered how to double the output of generators and alternators while requiring only forty percent (40%) of the input power needed to turn the armature. This phenomena is linear, which means one hundred percent (100%) of output power could be created using one fifth of input fuel (20%), i.e, coal, oil, gas, hydro-electric, or wind.

To confirm his claims, I contacted two independent experts with hands on experience with his inventions--the Director of Innovation for a major producer of commercial generators and the senior science in charge of global standardization for the world's second largest producer of commercial electronics. Both verified the inventions do exactly what Heins insists...as has a professor of electromagnetism at MIT, experts at NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and European makers of electric cars and scooters.

The Colorado Springs Public Utilities Board knows of Heins and his inventions (because I informed two members directly during a recess at a board meeting)...and it chooses to ignore or disbelieve them in lieu of poisoning your future through its financial commitment to oil, coal, and gas.

Only you can "say no to the status quo."

Re: “UPDATE: Drought and wildfires: the new normal?

Thank you, Wyatt, for posting this! Along with my neighbors in Manitou Springs, I was ordered from my home by a computerized voice due to the Waldo Canyon Fire during a 100+ heat 'wave' that shattered all-time records for Colorado Springs. Thank you for connecting these ugly dots. I've tried to do the same through my Quantum Fires blog and "The Sibyl Reborn," a novel. When will people wake up to the magnitude of our folly and face the Hell we're consigning the innocent to endure for generations untold to come?
