Re: “When is zero not zero?

There's more than weight to be considered in the honest acknowledgment that foods containing sugar & trans fats have zero (in the absolute sense) nutritional value, such as their role in diabetes and even mental illness. And in a country where sugar is an ingredient in almost every processed and restaurant food going, it is not an incorrect observation that the Girl Scouts could find a better, healthier outlet for their members to participate in. The food industry is already glutted with fattening, sugar-laden treats. We give lip service to our children to eat healthily, but then take them to fast food restaurants, give them cheap, processed foods at home, and stock school cafeterias with junk food like hamburgers and corn dogs. Then we wonder why allergies and obesity are on the rise--and treat that wrongly as an image issue instead of one of health.
