Re: “Joining the mayoral race

I'll vote for you, Rich. It's pretty obvious that a Mayor with a well-developed sense of the absurd would be a step up from Lionel Rivera, who has no sense at all.

Re: “Dogs and storms don't mix

Good one, Rich! I tried the tape-recorder-with-sound-of-thunder method on my German Shepherd, and can now report that everytime there's a thunderstorm new toothmarks appear on my tape recorder.

Re: “Audiences: ours vs. theirs

Rich, I rarely agree with every opinion expressed in your columns, and occasionally don't agree with any opinion expressed in some of your columns, but I read every one. They're literate, clever, and funny as hell. Keep right on puncturing inflated egos, ridiculing the ridiculous, and pointing out the absurdities so rife in "our village". On your best days you remind me of HL Mencken -- not his writing, his slovenly manner of dress (ba-DUM-bum!). Keep 'em coming.

Re: “Ted Haggard is borne again

Mr. Forman, I believe you meant your headline to read "born" again. Given Ted Haggard's history of hypocrisy, I have serious doubts about that. If you really mean "borne" again, it remains to be seen whether he will be "endured or tolerated" again by the community, though there will no doubt be some who fall for the latest con.

Re: “Letters

Suthers' screwup? John Suthers doing his job. The Democrats in Congress maintain that the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce gave them the constitutional authority to pass the so-called "health care reform" legislation. That's like my saying that my driver's license gives me the right to drive across your lawn. They overreached themselves and violated the Tenth Amendment. Suthers has a duty to challenge, and would have been remiss if he had not done so.

Re: “Loaded questions for the ATF

Given the BATF's well-documented history of incompetence, dishonesty, and abuse, good luck to Mr. Guman. I hope he gets his property back, but I also hope he isn't holding his breath.

Re: “Letters

Oh, dear, yet another "progressive" who feels free to denigrate a fellow citizen for "toting around some ragged copy of a document" that sets forth in pretty straightforward language the powers granted to the federal government by us, the people. Read the 10th Amendment. "Reading a bit of real history" only reveals the extent to which the federal government every day violates the Constitution the President and all members of Congress swear to uphold and protect. Those who say that it's a "living document" are the same people who think it's all right to exceed the speed limit whenever there are no police around.
