Best place in Falcon!
Is it me or does it seem as though Mr. Schniper had already made up his mind about the place before even stepping foot in the door? He clearly has been disappointed by the Cow and is unable to be objective knowing this place is owned by the same people. The Purple Toad is by far the nicest place to eat in Falcon- the service is always excellent and the decor is both upscale and comfortable at the same time. What kind of a person slams a locally owned business for hanging up the American flag for crying out loud? This is Falcon, not L.A. or NYC and the place fits right into our neighborhood perfectly.
Ive eaten there a dozen times and everything Ive ordered has been fantastic. They actually do have a chef working in the kitchen who came from Patty Jewitt / Garden of the Gods Gourmet and was a contestant on Hells Kitchen. The reviewers opinion of just 3 out of the 40+ menu items is not a fair representation of the place as a whole...and Im sorry but Im pretty sure that most people prefer cocktails that taste smooth not being able to taste the alcohol doesnt mean there is a problem- it means the ingredients in the recipe are well-balanced. This is restaurant 101 stuff here... but I would certainly hope that the food writer at the Independent would know that already.
Actually Diane, the minimum wage increase in Colorado has nothing to do with the cost of living. It was a ballot initiative approved by voters- who obviously have no sense of what it is going to do to the local economy. Most small businesses operate on a very small margin, which means in order to stay in business they will need to raise their prices accordingly. Its absurd to assume any business has the ability to simply absorb these costs- they are ultimately going to be passed on to the consumer OR the business will close. Either way, raising the minimum wage will either counteract itself as people will need to spend more at restaurants, etc OR will cause a loss of jobs/hours scheduled. Anyone who supports this initiative is clearly not a small business owner nor are they very well versed in basic economics.
What about Poor Richard's? They were pioneers in the socially and environmentally conscious restaurant space here in the Springs... They compost all waste and have solar panels on the roof for crying out loud!
Oh man and the best part is that The Curry Leaf is the featured deal on Amazon Local today! BOYCOTT!
