Re: “Medieval duel

My family has been part of the Colorado Renaissance Festival for the last 29 years in one form or another. I traveled for several years as a Rennie, my mother and I were on cast here in Colorado as a street characters and singers, my uncle and cousins had a small acting troupe. And we are all native Coloradans- We are that "local" entertainment that Mr Paradise states he wants more of and last year they were "let go" in lieu of more traditional acts that rap on stage with overwhelming microphones or that blare out We Will Rock you (a timeless english ballad) on bagpipes.
In my time traveling I experienced more integrity and true quality people than I have ever encountered anywhere else. No they don't "look" like Joe America- but they aren't into doing the Renaissance Festivals as a way to party, they do it to make a living and they take it very seriously.
So the whole "family image" clean up the fair line is a lovely smoke screen to cover up the fact that Mr Paradise (Sr and Jr) just don't like the Rennie community and he is discriminating against them. They use their "power" to do things like turn off the water so that the hippies can't shower, remove people who (during the week when there are no patrons) don't have their dreads covered, or who aren't wearing a shirt. And heaven forbid Mr Paradise is in a bad mood and crosses your path, because then he's been known to just pull your pass for no reason at all.
The Colorado Renaissance Festival is not Disney Land and it never will be- but it's still in America where things like rights exist.
