Re: “Peter Brimelow: VDARE¬†Foundation rejects white supremacy label

Citizens Project and a couple of City Council members and representatives from the community are hosting a community discussion tonight about exactly what VDARE's people are afraid of - immigrants in our community who deserve to be seen.
Maybe if VDARE's members actually met someone in the immigrant community and learned their stories, they wouldn't nearly as afraid of them. And that is exactly what this is - fear. They're not strong idealists, upholding some moral principle. They're scared of being treated the way they treat current minorities. They're scared of losing their positions of privilege and power. They're scared of being excluded because grownups looking for solutions to complex problems don't invite petulant children to the table.
Good. They should be. The policies and mindset they advocate has dominated politics and terrorized families for too long. It's high time people unite against hateful groups who espouse things like ethnic or racial purity as some sort of national security and economic panacea. We're not standing for it any more. Let us call them the white nationalists they are, and let them be scared.

Re: “Divisions in El Paso County Democratic Party revealed in defections and drama

I've been in and out of the Dems for years. I donate when there is a candidate that inspires me or a cause that they are championing that I can get behind. I was a Bernie delegate but was happy to support Hillary and never felt animus to any of her longer-time supporters until they started telling me what trash I was. Give me a good candidate and I will absolutely be there with time and money and friends. But don't expect me to vote for the D by somebody's name just because it's not an R (ok, sometimes, that is actually how it goes, just don't take it for granted).
I'm glad that they are working to mend the rifts in leadership, volunteers, and supporters. And I'm heartened that the current leadership team is reaching out to people beyond the "core". There are so many people who need to hear the message and can absolutely be reached, so don't write them off. A lot of the unaffiliateds and disappointed Rs can be convinced to get out and vote for democratic candidates and it's a huge disservice to treat them as an afterthought or the B-list invitees to the party. Yes, there needs to be differing appeals to the garden party donors and the cookout supporters, but there's got to be a place made for all of them if we're going to get anything done. So don't dismiss them/me because I haven't been a D my entire time in El Paso County.
