Re: “A ballot for every registered voter

I applaud the Independent and Gazette for standing up toghether on this issue, the founders of this country would be ashamed to admit that Colorado Springs in part of the United States they fought and died to secure with actions like this. I can only hope this is the start of a wake up call for people to bring about an end to politics as usual. We must remember these are public employees, they are paid by us (our tax dollars) and like any employee they need to be held accountable to us the shareholders!!!!!!

Re: “Ballot bias

This should be announced on every tv, radio news program as a public service announcement as well as the city and county community channels.

Re: “District 3: Mike or Lisa?

I believe the best comment made in this article is that what is good for the city is good for district 3. If the city has high employment, a good public transit system, good public safety and is in overall good shape then district 3 will be in good shape. I know each council member must represent thier districts best interest, but as we have seen in the past squabbling amongst council members over scraps for thier district has hurt the city as a whole. This is what they do in D.C..

Re: “The scene at Denver's pro-union rally

I believe the rallies around the country are less pro union and more to save our dying working middle class. If we continue on the path we are on the the upper class with have everything and the lower class will be standjing in long bread lines.
I speak from personal experience, I was a city transit bus driver for 5 years and was replaced by a lower paid, less experienced bus operators with poorer benefits after our city leaders used misleading tatics and information to get question 1A passed in 2004 creating the PPRTA. This was done in an effort to break the transit workers union and dissolve the transit workers pension plan. Myself and many of my coworkers have suffered great losses, including our homes, vehicles and relationships because of the actions of our city leaders. Still our city leaders are attempting to take another benefit away from us that was agreed upon in a contract between the city , the transit workers union and the federal dept. of labor in 1974 refered to as the 13C agreement. Our city leaders are trying to get out of this agreement in a lawsuit filed in federal court by the city, using taxpayers dollars.

Re: “About last week ... Council says city elections should be corporate-friendly

Just another example of the spineless leadership our city has. The whole council should resign staing incompetance as the reason for thier resignations after they fire the incompetant employess.
