Re: “Let's make a deal

Considering how much less a soldier and his family get for doing their jobs, I think it's time to stop and think what these perks mean to them. Many noncom families rely on food stamps because their pay isn't sufficient to cover the cost of good and a decent life, and that is appalling. Now you want to take away one of the few perks remaining to them and make them pay sales tax, too. That is just wrong in so many ways.

No one thinks how it affects the men and women who serve in the military when they're screaming about cutting military spending, but that's where the buck stops. Medical, dental and all basic services have been cut to the bone. Raises have been nonexistent over the past 2-3 years because it's not in the budget. Now you want them to pay sales tax on top of everything else. Is this how you honor the men and women who keep you and the rest of this country safe? What a penny pinching, miserly attitude.

I do agree it's time to stop finding more sources of revenue and manage the revenue you already have better. You fleece tourists and the civilian population with taxes. Leave the military alone.
