Re: “Letters

TJR COOK, thanks for all the information, but I am not impressed by the "higher criticism," of almost all of these "bible scholars." Most, if not all, deny the basic doctrines of Orthodox Christianity and have zero credibility with a truly regenerated Christian.

I'm familiar with all the various theories about who did or did not write the gospels, etc., and most of those theories have been debunked.

No, what these "higher critics," people like the Jesus Seminar really are, are a group of loony tunes to most fundamental, bible-believing Christians.

BTW, there is zero proof that the four gospel were all written after 70 A.D. For every theory that the unbeliever comes up with, there have been scholars that defend the traditional views.

Nice try, but the value that these "scholars" contribute to the understanding of the bible, could be written on the back of a postage stamp.

Re: “Letters

When I was 10 I could see that evolution was nonsense. It's still nonsense. The TRUTH never changes. Try again!!

Re: “Letters

Why not think again, thinkagain? Since you were 20 you have thought for yourself. Wow, good job. And you bought in to the gigantic fraud known as evolutionism. I know why teachers of this fraud fight to the death so their students will not be exposed to other systems--because Creation by Intelligent Design leads to truth.

When I was 10-years-old and my biology teacher told me we evolved over billions of years and that the bible was a fairy tale, I believed him--for almost two days. Then I got to thinking about it.

I was standing in front of my house and was thinking I wonder what the chance would be of this house building itself over time all by itself. As a 10-year-old I thought for about 1 minute and came to the conclusion that the chances of that were not good. Well, how about the entire universe evolving over time? Not good. The next day I went back to my biology teacher and told him he was full of it, in a nice kid way of course. You know, from that time on that teacher really didn't like me. He had it in for a 10-year-old because I dared to disagree with the almighty god of science.

I learned then to stick to your beliefs even if you are a minority of one. Even if every single person in the world thinks you are wrong. You will be surprised how right that usually makes you.

Re: “Letters

Brazill, don't be amazed or concerned since you don't believe. No one condemns you. You do that all by yourself. You call Creation by an Intelligent Creator convoluted, yet accept the hair-brained hypothesis of evolutionism as fact. Go figure!!!

Re: “Letters

Oh, BTW, I don't look with glee to the condemnation of unbelievers. I wish all without exception would be saved to eternal life. But it's not up to me.

God reconciled man to himself, nailed man's sins to the Cross, have not imputed those sins to man, but to Christ. The WORLD has been justified. All you have to do is appropriate that finished work of the Cross for yourself. Make it your own by receiving what has been done FOR YOU. But, alas, it probably won't happen. Why? Because light came into the world, but man chose darkness instead. Why? Because his deeds were evil and he thinks he is the master of his destiny. He doesn't want to submit to a Creator.

Read Romans, Chapter 1. Even now, you will never be able to say "I didn't know that. No one every told me that Christ died for me." Well, someone has told you. Do with it what you will. If you are a follower of the vast majority of mankind you will continue as you are. Mocking Christ and making God a liar.

This is the last I have to say on the subject.

1 Corinthians 1:19-25

New Living Translation (NLT)

19 As the Scriptures say,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise
and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”

20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. 21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. 22 It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. 23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

Re: “Letters

HighPlainsTraveler, I may have you pegged incorrectly, but do I, with your small "g" god and all?

Yes, junk the Scientific Method! You can't use that method, based on observation, and repeatable, verifiable experiments by independent researchers. No one was present when life started.

Blank out on the Dead Sea Scrolls and prophecy. I'm not sure I've ever had a unbeliever answer that, and you are no exception.

I know the up-to-date "advancements" on the fairy tale of evolutionism. This is not the forum to go into detail. But be picky about it if it makes you feel better.

Jefferson, of course, was not a believer of Orthodox Christianity, which is neither here nor there. Makes no difference what the slave owning politician believed.

The water? I don't know. I leave it to skeptics like you to search for it. How did life come from non-life?

Hey, believe that your cousins came from apes. Nothing surprises me anymore. You condemn the scriptures as "Tall Tales," but then believe in the incredibility absurd hypothesis of evolutionism.
