Despite its focus on members as the designated clubhouse for Perry Sanders and John Goede’s 365 Grand Club, anyone can pop into Johnny Martin’s Car Central for a meal or beverage, so long as it isn’t hosting a members-only event or private shindig. So we make for the bar and a Coconut Mango Delight ($7.50), a mix of coconut cream, pineapple juice, Smirnoff mango vodka and egg white shaken and served in a champagne flute. It’s a little artificial (thanks, Smirnoff), but it goes down easy.

We put “healthy” in the rearview for a grilled pimento cheese ($12), a more affordable option on the mostly $12-plus lunch menu. The poblano in the poblano pimento cheese doesn’t read, but the garlic does through the oozing slab of pimento and white cheddar cheeses, served with much-needed tomato for acid and bacon for crunch on sourdough. Side truffle fries, cut fast-food style, smell fine but taste more of salt, Parmesan and parsley, though they make a fine mop for the cheese.
