Re: “City has hired third parties for dozens of worker complaints

It is inconceivable that a city the size of Colorado Springs doesn't have some sort of mechanism or office that can investigate and mediate or arbitrate employer - employee disputes. With over 23 years in government, on both sides of the 'aisle', so to speak, I can say for certain the city need not spend this kind of money, whether it's for the utilities dept. or any of the agencies under the Mayor's office. I think the 'mismanagement' comment isn't too far off the mark.

Re: “The little bus that couldn't

Add my thanks for a good recap of the issue. Since I started the petition to save FREX, we've gotten over 1100 signatures of supporters - riders, families of riders, environmentalists and citizens concerned with the future of the Springs. They all felt, for varying reasons that the FREX service was worth saving, for the economy, the environment, and the future of public transit in the area. The service was widely appreciated, based on the comments received with the petition. But the Mayor chose to ignore the public and the Council, and chose instead to end FREX, presumably for the savings. It seems more like he acted like a spoiled child, saying, "It's my bat, my ball and my backyard so you all have to go home, because I'm not going to play with you!" Or, maybe he;s more like the schoolyard bully that takes your lunch money because he has the power to do so. Either way, he's killed one of the few truly progressive services that was available to local folks, and we are all going to suffer the consequences, some much more than others.

Re: “Changing routes

We need to setup the transit district that Ray Krueger envisions - that's the best way to regionalize the systems we have and provide better service to those that need it. And we need to save FREX! Contrary to Mr Shonkwiler's opinion, those of us who ride FREX don't have a choice, other than tp drive our private cars, which is more expensive and creates more air pollution we don't need. We choose rather to live in Colorado Springs, raise our families here, buy our consumer goods here and pay our taxes. We can keep FREX and have a great local transit besides. Go to or and take action!
