Re: “Focus' mixed messages

happyholidays, You mentioned that there are other holidays within the holiday season, which is true. But the marketing from stores and the sales are because of Christmas. Do you often get a new necktie for Thanksgiving or a stack of presents for New Year's? No, 90% of the retail in Dec is for Christmas presents. If that is true then why would a store take Christmas out of their advertizing? A consumer wanting to shop at a store that recognizes why he (and millions of others) shopping does not seem like too much to ask. As for the article, it was stupid. FOTF runs its 50+ ministries on the generosity of supporters. In this economy I'm sure giving is way down and will likely continue to go down. It is not irresponsible for FOTF to let some of their employees go. They are trying to be responsible with the funds entrusted to them. As for the $500,000 I don't know but would guess it was not FOTF that gave it but Focus Action, a different organization but closely linked with FOTF. I'm a new reader of the Indy, I like find out what events are going on in town, but so far I'm not impressed. Its like reading a blog where it is just the random ramblings of a few indivduals. I guess I get what I pay for!

Re: “Thou shalt go green

I want to comment on the first comment. It was strange and disconnected from the article. First, how many times must the Bible say something before it is true? I would say once is enough. Second, you are short-sighted to suggest that Focus is myopic in their scope of ministry. Perhaps you have been getting to much of your information off this one sight. Check out www.family.org. Focus has always existed as a resource for families--something very important to God.
