Re: “School is no Bible-free zone

I just had a run in with these individuals myself. I am a public middle school teacher in Rhode Island. Everything about their tactics at our school lines up with the report above except for two exceptions. First, they were indeed handing the bibles directly to the children. In fact, they were going down the lines of children waiting to get on buses and handing them directly to them. Second, they were anything but gentlemen. When I persisted in asking them whose approval they had to distribute materials to children getting on their buses, one of the "gentlemen" accused me of being a muslim sympathizer, in front of a large group of students. Our school busses line up directly behind the school, with maybe 4 feet of sidewalk between the school and the busses. While I may have no legal leg to stand on here, in my view they are distributing religious material on public school property. The children have no choice but to cross that sidewalk to get to their busses. These men were confrontational and aggressive, and in my opinion, clearly violating the rights of the students' and their families.
