Re: “Run-on sentencing

Bill Ritter keeps saying wait until his re-election for real sentencing reform. That won't happen. Ritter remains a district attorney at heart. He does not believe in justice; he believes in prosecution. Millions of dollars could be saved by keeping juveniles in the juvenile system -- not charging and prosecuting them as adults and throwing them into the adult prison system. Those that come out will be more hardened criminals. Those that our laws have sentenced to life without parole are a $2 million drain on taxpayers. For what purpose other than vengeance?
We need to get serious about overall prison reform but we won't until we can no longer ignore the huge financial drain. Doug Wilson was right to roll his eyes. Sentencing reform is a charade.
