Re: “Utilities makes up for lost bonuses with salary bumps

Anonymous,

Water rates went up 48% in 2009, when we were told they'd go up 9-12%.
Water rates went up 15% this year, when we were told they'd go up 2-3%.
Compare your old bills.
Starting with a bill of $100 in 2008, that becomes $148 in 2009.
That $148 becomes $170.20 in 2010. That equates to a 70.2% increase. They also raised the rates in February so we wouldn't feel the full impact until lawn watering months.

Sorry, no sympathy here. My fixed income saw no raise this year while some of these folks are getting 6.5%

It's no surprise they can pay higher salaries, they jacked water rates up 70% since 2008. Meanwhile, those of us on fixed incomes saw no raises this year and will not be able to water our lawns.

Enjoy!
