Representative Mark Cloer

Colorado House of Representatives, District 17

200 East Colfax, Room 271

Denver, CO 80203

Dear Rep. Cloer:

I've been experiencing a lot of awkward situations. They're not awkward because I'm awkward, or because of the awkwardness of others. Sometimes things just get awkward.

And that's where you come in.

I know your duty is to represent me in matters of state, but politics can require a certain interpersonal statesmanship. Too often, pols think this can be done with a swift soil scoop at a groundbreaking ceremony or through the strategic kissing of babies.

I'd like to suggest something of a paradigm shift.

What say you agree to three hours of emotional representation on my behalf? This might involve apologizing to friends for my behavior from the previous night's drinking, or standing in for me during a crucial breakup. Trust that I do not want for emotionally unpleasant situations. In return, I will be more than happy to participate in the accompanying PR blitz. I'm very good at gushing for local media.

In closing, I think this gesture has the potential to break political ground and could very well pave the way for something much larger for us both.

I anxiously await your comments.
