Mayor Lionel Rivera
City of Colorado Springs
P.O. Box 1575
Colorado Springs, CO 80901
Dear Mayor Rivera:
Can't say I'm holding my breath in hopes that you'll join the ranks of mayors standing up for gay marriage. However, I think I've stumbled on a piece of middle ground real estate you might be interested in.
Where many cities are marrying gays left and right, ours seems uniquely suited to provide a different service.
I'm talking about gay divorce.
There's little reason to believe that all these gay marriages are going to stay the course. So if San Francisco is the logical place for homo hitching, wouldn't Colorado Springs be the likely candidate for splitsville?
Marketing the Springs as a gay divorce destination could generate needed tourism dollars. In addition, local legal service providers will also experience a boom. And finally, how could our local theocrats, i.e., your base, object to gay divorce?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. While it might seem gimmicky, is it really that much different than a convention center?
Sincerely,
Kenneth Cleaver
