Dear Mr. Toksvig,

Delighted to see that you've started a new celebrity magazine. Some say that with US Weekly, People, Life & Style and Vanity Fair there's simply too much celebrity news out there. I've never understood this argument, as it's never applied to, say, baseball teams (there's lots of them) species of wildlife (they're still finding new ones!) and soft drinks.

As a reader who remains committed to learning whether or not Paris is losing Lindsay to Nicole, and furthering my understanding of both of Kate Hudson's recreational pursuits, I have a few thoughts about celebrity journalism.

Though I read the great US Weekly, I strongly oppose its stars are just like us approach. I hope it's not one you adopt. While there exists certain biological similarities between celebrities and the public, they are not the same. True, some celebs have non-famous parents, and others frequent the same retail outlets as people of no media consequence. But the fact remains: Celebrities are BETTER than us. That's why they're celebrities and we're not. Some might call this elitist. I call it obvious.

Another point I'd like to make is that celebrity publications need op-ed pages. I like paparazzi photo essays as much as the next person, probably more, but what about an exchange of ideas on the crucial celebrity issues of the day? Kabbalah or Scientology?, for instance, or Can you really be friends with your media spokesperson?

Anyway, I'm very curious what you think. I'd love to help OK in whatever capacity you see fit.
