Re: “Prey for rain in the Pikes Peak region

Thanks for the note, Akers. To tweak the common saying, by using the word "prey," actually was our intent. Because they sit downhill/downstream from the Waldo Canyon burn scar, which will be the site of major flooding in a bad rainstorm, the people we interviewed in fact can be viewed as "prey for rain."

Huge apologies for the mistake, Nancy. We'll get that date updated online. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Re: “UPDATE: From the bargain hunter's bag: It's back!

    Hi Sarah,
This sale is full of brand-new, high-end product, but prices are reduced 75 percent off the original ticket price on clothing, and 50 percent or so off shoes, purses, etc. When I was in, I saw everything from a $36 Banana Republic shirt to a $1,600 (don't remember the brand) vest. I purchased a full-length Anthropologie wool coat, originally priced at $300, for $75. Best, Kirsten Akens, associate editor

Re: “Price-gouging on Venetucci Pumpkin Ale

Just to comment on this part of Mr. K's post: "Finally, Venetucci Farms is a business. They made a solid profit on their output and likely do not begrudge the Colorado Liquor Outlet their profits."

Venetucci Farms is a project of the Pikes Peak Community Foundation. Bristol Brewing Co. produces the Venetucci Pumpkin Ale each year and donates 100 percent of the profits to Venetucci Farms. It's a community fundraiser to help keep the farm running. This entire Bristol event is done in the spirit of Nick and Bambi Venetucci, who originally owned the farm and used to give away thousands of pumpkins each year to children around Colorado Springs.
