Re: “Winners Index

I would have to say, as a disinterested third party, that Trinity has a WAY better tap than Old Chicago's. OC may have everyone beat on overall number of beers including bottled, but you really can't get any better than what Trinity has done when it comes to the variety and quality of what they have on tap. And they mix it up, which someone with OC's corporate stance simply can't keep up with.

Too bad you have to drive halfway to Kansas to try it out. Pass.

Re: “Update: Bush, Cheney coming to Broadmoor next week

For most people, It takes a lot of money to make profiting of of others' misery a palatable life choice. For some reason, I suspect it's easier for those people who go into the insurance business - conscience must be a big handicap. So it's perfectly reasonable, even admirable, that these insurance big wigs found the two men least likely to ever experience anything remotely resembling a conscience. They're bringing these two exemplars of moral nihilism in to our community to help the budding and blossomed execs to shrug off their moral coil. Makes a lot of sense. Hope we can make up for the wasted money on the police escort through increased sales tax, but I'm not optimistic.

Re: “Here's how to get the city to pay you

The RFP process is perhaps a valid attempt at fairness, but the end result is often the same as that experienced before we started moving this direction - contracting agents use the vagaries and subjective evaluation criteria to steer work to contractors on an unofficial preferred vendors list, and are just as likely to subvert the system as they were before. Now they just have more paperwork to justify their 'objective' decisions. More bureaucracy is not always a good thing, no matter how much our hard-working public servants claim it is.

Oh Noblitt, you feisty devil you! No do-good reporter's going to get one over on you. Have to get up pretty early in the morning... You'll stall us all with the old "Confidential Issue" trick. Nobody's going to see through that. No sir. Thank Ted Haggard we have honest, straighforward public servants like Noblitt and May in charge of defending our liberty and safety.

Re: “Pastor Ted gets an unexpected competitor

However much he dropped the ball morality-wise, you do have to admit Haggard has a knack for pulling in the dough and putting on a great show for the kids. Rich, next time you two are kneeling in prayer (make sure you're both kneeling at the same time), please see if he wouldn't mind opening the pools for the summer - that's be great - we could do a little prayer jig or whatever they do for Jeebus nowadays and then he could claim it as tithing when you pay your entrance fee.

Re: “El Paso County says hello to a good buy

It sucks to have to explain yourself to the people who pay your bills. I remember it well from adolescence. I remember thinking - I NEED a fleet of golf carts fro me and my friends. Why won't my parents just buy them for me? No need to ask questions - just BUY THEM. NOW!!!!!!!!!
