Kristy Milligan has been chosen to head the interfaith nonprofit Westside CARES, which serves the homeless and working poor on the west side of El Paso County. She starts on July 1 and will succeed longtime director Steve Brown, who is retiring June 30. Milligan, who grew up on the Westside, served as vice president of regions for Rocky Mountain PBS and previously was executive director of Citizens Project.

Westside CARES provides food pantry assistance,sd financial help for rent and utilities, a clothing and laundry voucher program, and community nursing and prescription assistance. It served more than 24,000 people last year.
