Re: “Suthers wants more from Utilities after voters say no to payments

Colorado Springs is no longer conservative. City Council wants to circumvent the public by increasing fees instead of providing "true oversight and accountability" for the revenue currently in place.

The biggest fallacy in local government is citizens evaded by City Council. We now have an increased COMCAST fee so we can divert money to the general fund. 311? Folks...everyone in the Springs has an IPhone or access to a computer to obtain services.

PILT....Payment in lieu of taxes. Never mind citizens voted to have the PILT phased out over eight years and it was supposed to go away this year. Instead we will go through the Utilities Board and increase the PILT illegally diverted to the city general fund.

Look forward to an increased LART (Lodging and rental car tax). Never mind the LART revenue has increased significantly over the past year. Don't be persuaded by the LART increasing taxes on tourists. The last survey showed 60% of the LART taxes are provided by locals renting cars and putting their relatives up in hotels. Check out how much money is now diverted to capital projects such as the downtown USOC museum (citizens told it would be privately funded ) and the Summit House.

Be more involved with city government and don't be a sheep!

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs police chief to Douglas Bruce: You're 'obnoxious'

Both men are at fault for this communication exchange!

Isn't it interesting Mr. Bruce was actually one of Colorado Spring's citizens who recommended Chief Carey for the police chief job? Colorado Springs should be proud of CSPD having one of the lowest crime rates in the country for our size of population.

Many of the above bloggers aren't aware that Mr. Bruce has put up with the most unfair and "UNCONSTITUTIONAL" trial in state history. The judge wouldn't allow into evidence that the IRS had cleared Mr. Bruce of any wrongdoing. The prosecution's "key witness" stated Mr. Bruce had not paid $129 in taxes.
The initial trial would make the top of the charts for "corruption in government."

Bloggers.....you need to dig into the weeds and be more involved in state and local government. You may be surprised!

Re: “Douglas Bruce properties in Denver at issue

Zen obviously has no "FACTS" on the political targeting of Douglas Bruce. Citizens of Colorado have no idea of the corruption in Denver.

Re: “The Caddie Shack Restaurant at Valley Hi Golf Course

Look at how old these reviews are......There's a new concessionaire. The food and service has improved quite a bit. Give it a try!

Re: “It's open season (next season) for farm stands in Colorado Springs

Government has to have their hands in everything. If the stands sold bad food, the whole neighborhood would know. Another ordinance which the city doesn't have the time to enforce. It's a sad world when the only way you can get to know your neighbor is through a city permitted and safety food course.

Re: “Why City Council might have snubbed the Open Meetings Law

Councilmember Collins has repeatedly stated executive session details are vague. More detailed information was provided on this executive session when City Council went back into Open Session. There also was a pre-amble to this Executive session telling Council aspects they should adhere to concerning executive sessions. Councilmember Knight pointed out this had never been done before. Citizens should inquire more about executive sessions so they are informed.

Re: “Waller, Geitner set their sights on county commissioner seat

Mark Waller is a career politician. Time for some new blood with new ideas. Making a career out of supporting corporate welfare is not the way. VOTE GEITNER!
