Re: “Advice Goddess

I may be ugly on the outside, but you lady are ugly on the inside. And that is a lot harder to fix. For someone who thinks they're some sort of authority on rudeness, you deserve an award for hypocrite of the century.

The only excess weight this woman should feel required to lose is the boyfriend.

Re: “Don't worry, your soda is safe with us

The only obesity "crisis" is that it's still acceptable to insult, belittle or degrade people for any reason. And that second paragraph was definitely insulting. Not to mention the whole "hey heres a scary faceless obesity monster! RUN AWAY RUN AWAY" picture.

Fat people are people to, and don't deserve to be trotted out as the tag lines to your pathetic attempts at grade school level 'humor'.

Re: “Our state is growing ... fatter

Would it have killed you to use a picture of a fat person with a head on your article? Or is it just easier to demonize fat people if you first dehumanize them by showing them without heads or faces?
As for the rest of your article... most of it is based off of studies paid for by groups with a definite agenda to pursue... which isn't exactly conducive to producing accurate results.
For example, the health care costs claim -- first they figured out how much each person in their study spent on health care during the study period. Then every time that person had a medical issue, they counted the entire amount again. So a fat person with a broken leg, diabetes, and strep throat ended up with their total health care spending counted three times! And it was ALL counted as health care required due to being fat, even though broken legs and strep throat are not caused by weight. And as far as the diabetes goes... there are a lot of studies that indicate weight gain, rather than causing diabetes as is assumed, might actually be caused by diabetes. But those studies never get even a moment's mention in the news for some reason.

Re: “Homeless respond to new ordinance

"habits of poverty"? Are you f*ing kidding me? Yeah, I'm just totally addicted to the sweet sweet high of not being able to find a job that pays more than minimum wage. Here is a thought, maybe Ms. Harwell needs to break the habit of being a condescending know it all witch.

Re: “Ritter wants to go hard on soft drinks

Yes, because every struggling family in the state will totally spend $3 to avoid paying $0.06 in taxes -- that being the price difference between a gallon of orange juice and two liters of soda.

All this proposed tax does is increase people's grocery bills, albeit by a small amount. That and setting a bad precedent for the next time the budget gets a little tight and they need a quick and easy new income stream.

Re: “When is zero not zero?

Or you could stop thinking weight is at all a valid metric for health, and therefore not feel a need to sanctimoniously judge people.

Re: “Utilities facing high turnover

If they offered paid training, at a rate that people could actually live off of not minimum wage, I can provide them with one employee right now today.
