Normally a champion for defense funding, U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, opposed an $855-billion spending package on Sept. 26, because it "blatantly ignores" funding for President Donald Trump's southern border wall. The bill provides Pentagon, Labor, Health, Human Services and Education funding until Dec. 7. In a statement, Lamborn said he opposed the measure because it includes "spending priorities of Democrats."

"We must fight for a better deal and conservative policies," the statement said. It's worth noting that on Sept. 28 Lamborn voted in favor of making permanent the Republican-initiated tax cuts of 2017, which Time.com reported is expected to add about $1.5 trillion to the deficit over 10 years. Lamborn said the bill would keep momentum going in the economy. The measure faces a harder road in the Senate.
