Re: “Against a downtown city stadium? Sign here

I think if more people understood the role of proper government, more people would not be calling others names. Government is not and never has been a vehicle for economic abundance. Only the true free market (which we do not have) is the road to economic gains and economic freedoms.

The information is out there for people to research and gain a clear understanding of why government intervention, attempting to revive a struggling economy that it has created, never is the answer.

If the free market wants to properly erect a stadium, by all means, go for it. But leave the taxpayer out of the equation.

Re: “Cannabis club finally triumphs over city of Colorado Springs

It doesn't matter what you think of the club, how it operates, who operates it nor what happens behind their doors. What matters is that private property rights have been upheld in the name of freedom and absolutely in the name of rights.

As a Libertarian, whatever I believe in personally regarding cannabis doesn't matter; what matters is that K.C. and his fellow investors were able to stave off the hammer of government. They were able to keep their private business open. A business that does no harm to the community or the rights of the people of this city.

Surrealist, your commentary is ridiculous in the scope of things. Please find other cattle to prod. Not sure what your beef is but it's really uncalled for. Be happy that a business was able to stay open despite the ruling class that is at the executive level of city government...aka the mayor's office. Any business that shuts down because a class of citizens and elected officials such as the mayor and others who back him only shuts down in the name of cronyism. It would have no merit other than to stifle small business in this city. This city needs people that take risks and open businesses. We don't need elitists and statists deciding what businesses are or aren't appropriate. We need leadership and clearly those city council members that gave the thumbs up did so for the free market and didn't bow to cliquish desires. Given the direction this city has taken in recent months, it's good to see some people with a bit of backbone.
