Re: “Demonization of marijuana winding down

It has come to my attention that Senator Romer is seeking to impose rules and regulations re: Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and their operation. It appears the senator is attempting to close the barn door after the horse got out. As a disabled war veteran, I am currently being under served by the Pueblo VA. Previously while living in Des Moines, I was treated with alternative forms of medication such as acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments provided by the Des Moines VA. When relocating back to Colorado, not only can the VA not access 7 years of medical records, they will not provide pain management as the Des Moines VA has. Rather than risk addiction to pain pills, I have sought out alternative forms of relief. My chronic medical condition is one of the ailments listed in the State Constitution as being treatable with Medical Marijuana. I have to travel great distances to see a doctor in Colorado Springs and pay a great deal of money for my medicine. Now Romer wants to double tax it with regular sales tax + another 10% or so as if it were alcohol or tobacco. Mr. Romer, my medicine is not alcohol or tobacco, it is a pain reliever, prescribed by a doctor, to treat injuries sustained while on active duty. I do not know if you are a veteran, however, I would think you would be a bit more compassionate toward disabled war veterans. There is currently healthy competition among the dispensaries in Colorado. They are doing the best they can to serve their patients and comply with current state rules and regulations. I suppose you could interfere with the free trade until it becomes more of a monopoly, however, do you not have better things to be concerned about, i.e. the homeless, healthcare, etc. I would appreciate it if you would pay more attention to these life and death matters and leave the dispensaries alone.
