The local job market isn't quite as stellar as earlier noted. The Gazette reports the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Colorado Springs added nearly 15,000 jobs in the year ending Oct. 31, 2018. But a recent report from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment shows El Paso County added just 5,512 jobs from the second quarter of 2017 to the second quarter of 2018.

Mayor John Suthers said in a statement, "The revised numbers show continuing very healthy job growth in the region... ."

In his Sept. 21 State of the City speech on Sept. 21, 2018, Suthers said, "We've created 24,000 jobs since June of 2015, an average of 7,300 jobs per year."
