Copy editors are always thrilled when an act stylizes its name to the point where it’s virtually always misspelled, a distinction that Colorado Springs hip-hop group LoUd Life Crew has laid claim to for the past six years. Founded by Justin Dejesus, aka SwizZy B, the music collective and record label’s first name is an acronym for “Living Out Ur Dream.” In any case, the group’s single “F.A.Nz” is high-level, engagingly addictive hip-hop that earns bonus points for a video that was filmed in an unidentified local mall. Rapper Noopey Na’Mon’s distinctive flow is particularly noteworthy, as when he points to his head and asks with a smile as big as Stevie Wonder’s: “What the fuck am I even saying?” Besides SwizZy and Noopey, LoUd Life members have included Marvylus, GrandMastaSkunk, King Vergo, dhino, Mann LaGrand Flight and DJ NOMAD. The opening acts, meanwhile, are Young LGMT, Day Nyne, Krooked Face, Jerel INK, and the inexplicably spelled Legacy.
