It’s a little surprising to realize that Lucky Dragon’s been in this little Fillmore plaza for almost 25 years. The interior’s well maintained and inviting. There’s even a small bar, if that floats your boat. We stop in for lunch, though, skipping all booze in favor of a lemon chicken ($7.95) lunch special, served with a choice of soup (egg drop, hot and sour or wonton), an egg roll and fried rice (though we ask for steamed instead). We go for wonton soup, which comes in a clear, rich broth with fried shallots, which compensates for a thick wonton wrapper around non-noteworthy filling.

On to the entrée, the portion’s huge — it costs a dollar more than most lunch offerings, but it’s a good value on meat alone. Two decent-sized chicken cutlets come pounded flat, coated and fried under a slice of lemon. We’re also happy with the sauce which, unlike some neon syrup offerings we’ve seen, comes delicately sweet and lemony, with noticeable ginger notes.
