Lucy I’m Home diversifies the menu, though the Cubano stays king

Lucy I'm Home set our bar high for Cubanos locally, and while we’ve enjoyed many a dish from this truck, it’s that sandwich that keeps the Diaz family in our hungry hearts. That said, we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least sample their newer offerings, now that they’re delivering to downtown Springs three days a week. We buy a frita ($8), described as a Cuban hamburger, and a pan con pollo ($10), a chicken sandwich. Though a touch salty, the frita’s beef-pork-chorizo patty tastes deeply savory and doesn’t skimp on seasoning. Sautéed onions only add to the bliss, and fried potato sticks add textural interest. As for the pan con pollo, the chicken gets the truck’s signature mojo marinade. Between delightful Cuban bread, garlic aioli, sautéed onions, lettuce and tomato, it’s a light and lovely chicken sandwich overall, packed with flavor. Still, good as these are, they still don’t touch the truck’s Cubano or Lechon sandwiches, which we’ve rapturized about in the past. But hey, everyone likes options.
