Please. "Christian bashing seems to be pretty safe"? Are you really unaware that the initial ad was a direct attack on our LGBT brethren? Or that most of the people who affixed their names to the second ad would identify themselves as Christian? As a Catholic who consider himself a fellow-traveler of the LGBT community, I'm disheartened that a simple response in support of a historically marginalized group against a call to action for intolerance towards a law-abiding and vital part of our city, state and country gets belittled as "Christian bashing". Such a characterization is Orwellian double speak of the highest order. Are you truly that threatened by those who are different than you? Why not reach out in the spirit of compromise, as Ms. Cathey evidently did in offering an alternative wording to her ad, which would not have offended those who object to the very term LGBT? Truly, for her to have done so means she was more than willing to meet halfway those who are uncomfortable with her very existence, even though it meant denying hey own objective truth about her own unalterable identity. Think about it.
