Re: “Seeing home, from afar

I can't and don't understand why anyone who has any "roots" in Colorado Springs would be ashamed of this truely Beautiful City! Us Colorado Springs natives (of which there are very few) can't help that we have been invaded by the radicals (i.e. Californians, Texans, Michiganians, etc.) of the current world who have taken over our government and lifestyle simply because there are more of "them" than "us". They left their morbidly discusting locales and decided it was okay to replicte the exact things that caused them to detest where they came from and force it upon us. Our local government has the attitude of "If you build it, they will come", and they came. Now we have the same problems from which they fled. I guess it's something that us natives deserved, because we didn't feel comfortable forcing ourselves upon them when they had no qualms about doing them same to us. Still it is no reason to be ashamed of our beautiful city. People may be a bit stand-offish here, but they are really kind at heart. It's just that we've been burned more than once and thusly we keep to ourselves. There are people here who still hold God as the creator, and Jesus Christ as their Savior from sin; however, it doesn't make us perfect. We are blessed with the most beautiful territory on Earth here in Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, focusing on the "bad" shouldn't overshadow how "good" it is to be a Native Born Colorado Springer! Don't be ashamed. You should consider yourself extremely fortunate and have plenty to be proud of here.
