Re: “County commissioners: Benefit of the doubt

This is unreal. I had no idea that they received pensions of this magnitude. This is a much better deal than even retired military get after 20 years of serving our country.

Re: “God for 2012

Really infuriating to me. Keep religion a private affair and out of government and politics.

Re: “Win $20 to Ruffrano's Hell's Kitchen Pizza

Hell's Kitchen is good stuff for sure. I also like Old Chicago (I know, I know) and Louies Pizza is pretty solid. Boriello Brothers (spelling) is good stuff too.

Re: “Planning Commission may zone 69 MMJ centers out of business

Agreed that it is pretty silly for the city to do this. It does not make a lot of sense. If the city can provide tangible data on how these MMJ centers have increased crime significantly or caused children going to nearby school to become dope addicts, they might have a case. Unfortunately, I don't think they have ANY data to support this.

Re: “Stop the local self-pity

I'd have to agree - there should be a lot more being done by our elected officials to address these issues, yet it seems the only they that is important is the USOC. There's more to economic development than the USOC. How about promoting smart tax initiatives that start to address these problems? The fact is - as a community - we don't do a good job of allocating resources on things that are important. Mostly because we're too busy fretting about our own stock portfolio or checking account. There's more to life than personal wealth, people!

Are they doing something illegal? Not that I can tell.

Re: “The state of the city: 'People are not happy'

There needs to be some major reinvestment into this city, and it needs to start with the citizens taking value in what makes this city great. Through slightly greater taxation, our city could be the envy of the rest of the State. Instead, we have deteriorating Parks, half-lit city lights, Weeds growing in all of the medians, and zero economic development. Wake up Colorado Springs - its time to invest in the place you live!
