Re: “UPDATE (No. 2): Academy dean of faculty to retire

I do apologize for my strident language, as I did not mean to insult. Passion got in the way of judgement, and I am sorry.

Re: “UPDATE (No. 2): Academy dean of faculty to retire

I never once said I was smarter than anyone at a civilian institution. It's great how you can twist my words to however you want them to look. I said that I... and myself alone, am smarter and have had better opportunities than I (only me) would have had at a civilian institution. I'm not comparing myself to anyone besides myself.

You say you were a cadet... I find that very hard to believe. Do you have any idea how much USAFA cadets help out the community. Cadets don't just go to Colorado Springs to eat and shop. They help out the community. They helped clean up the Waldo Canyon fire. A group of my squadmates volunteered at an animal shelter every month. There are countless Wing, Group, and Squadron events that go on each month that show that cadets give back to the community. So when you say that cadets merely leave the "aluminum womb" to shop and eat, you are completely wrong and insulting of their hard work. Pull your head out of the Independent, and try some other news for a change:…

Oh and your academic points? Why don't you Google: Air Force Academy Rhodes Scholar? Or Marshall Scholar, or any other prestigious national scholarship that goes to a cadet EVERY YEAR! All C's and D's? Impossible to graduate, that would be below a 2.0, the same threshold that most colleges use.

You're an ignorant fool. And the sexual assault argument you bring up is completely misguided. You think the Air Force is the only place that it happens? Go to UCCS, Boulder, CSU. Do those get reported by the news? No, they don't. But they happen.

Ben, if you went to the Academy, come back for a few days, and really see how it is. Stop bashing your supposed alumni, and see if that's how it really is. I doubt your perspective would be the same. If it did stay the same, you'd have bigger issues to deal with than paying for a plane ticket. Mainly blind ignorance and stupidity.

Re: “UPDATE (No. 2): Academy dean of faculty to retire

As per usual, the Colorado Springs Independent publishes biased drivel aimed only at soiling the USAF Academy's reputation and mission. Ms. Zubeck, this article is clearly one-sided, and poor journalism at best. The opportunities afforded to me by the academic sector of USAFA have been simply amazing, and I know that because of these opportunities provided to students here, most cadets at USAFA will be fantastic officers. Please, keep your bias and your own opinion out of your "journalism" and save it for editorials. While you make Gen Born out to be guilty on all accounts, you don't even come close to reporting both sides of the story. I'm wondering if your final comment about Penn State was a further attempt to paint her in a bad light (due to the recent controversy at PSU). On the point of religious favoritism, I think you'll find that almost all cadets scoff at that remark, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who actually believed that it happened.
Either way, while I complained the whole way about the dean making me take so many core classes, I'm a hell of a lot smarter than I would be if I had attended a civilian institution.
And with that, I'm leaving this website, as it has wasted enough of my time already.

P.S. First Shirt First Snow is not a ritual where upperclassmen dress up in robes and beat and bite freshmen cadets while reading the Bible. Though I know that's what you see in your misconstrued brain (or at least want people to see).
