Re: “Caring for the wealthy

Last spring the city traffic department held a couple of meetings for our neighborhood because they had received so many complaints about the traffic on the roads. We live in Ridgeview @ Stetson Hills, the major problem roads are Poudre Way and Windom Peak. We were informed that our neighborhood was most in need of improvements throughout the city. They drew up some plans for curb bump-outs and speed humps, but told us that there had to be a testing phase first. They were going to install temporary bump-outs to see if it would even be an improvement, but that wasnt going to happen until spring of 07. Then, if the traffic improved we wouldn't get the funding needed for the project until summer of 08. It was explained to us that they get 150K a year to spend on projects like ours and we had to get in line. So, summer came and went in my neighborhood, and guess what! We havent seen any temporary improvements, whats even worse is that no one at the Traffic Department will even return a phone call. A neighbor told me that the HOA got a hold of someone and was told simply, "there was no more funding". So apparently the funding has run out because the houses in our neighborhood are only 1500 to 2500 square feet per house. Our neighborhood is not at all considered rich. Whats sad is that it will take someone, probably a child getting hurt or killed to get something done. But Im glad that those rich people have a better street to get to their 10,000sf homes. Good for them! Did I mention there are Elementary and Middle schools on the problem streets in my neighborhood?
