Re: “Protect the parks, cover the arts, cut the exhaust, and more

Angry political rant diversions aside...Chuck Broerman was elected to serve the public good. That does not include using his position, even in little ways, to further his personal political agenda. He owes it to the public he serves to conduct himself in a way that is beyond reproach. But he has a history of breaking the rules in the name of politics (Google "Chuck Broerman breaks parking-meter rules to promote candidates" or “Chuck Broerman not above board”). And so we elected Chuck Broerman to a position of trust to care for our very important public records? What other ways is he cheating the public? Fool us once, shame on Chuck. Fool us twice, shame on us.

And just a little advice Chuck, if you are listening. You probably did the selfish political calculation and decided that force-feeding Republican spew to the public you serve in your role as Clerk and Recorder would score you points with people like the rant posters in this thread, but I personally think your long-term future is looking bleak if those are the voters that you expect to keep you employed. The electorate is changing (even in Colorado Springs!) and most Americans want government that serves EVERYONE, not just a privileged, selfish, angry few. Good luck my friend, because I think you are going to need it.

Re: “Protect the parks, cover the arts, cut the exhaust, and more

Stacy in Woodland Park - just because you can't smell your own stink doesn't mean the rest of us should have to put up with it. Politically-charged partisan drivel such as Fox News (or from any other political persuasion) should not be a part of our public services, ESPECIALLY in places where we vote, as the OP pointed out. And what is most concerning is that Chuck Broerman the County Clerk and Recorder, the one who has dictated to his employees that only his propaganda can be played on the television sets in the County Recorder's Office, has a record of such abuse (Google "Chuck Broerman Nabbed in Parking Scheme"). We all need to keep an eye on Chuck, as it looks like his priority is to serve his party, and not the general public. OP Kerri, don't hold your breath for your promised phone call from Chuck, because I'll bet that he is a coward when it comes to dealing with people not directly under his thumb. We need to make sure this guy doesn't get another chance in the henhouse, and the best way to do that is through the ballot box.

Re: “Protect the parks, cover the arts, cut the exhaust, and more

Kerri O: A little research on Chuck Broerman the County Clerk and Recorder reveals that his putting politics ahead of democracy and the public good is not a new MO for Chuck. In 2002 he found himself in hot water when he violated parking laws to interfere with a voting place. See this link:

Amazing that this behavior hasn't caught up with Chuck yet - seems like we have elected a fox to guard the hen house. Shame on us Colorado Springs!

Re: “Protect the parks, cover the arts, cut the exhaust, and more

Kerri O: I was annoyed by the same when I visited the DMV office last. When I mentioned it to the DMV desk employee she just rolled her eyes and said there was nothing that anyone could do since the order came from the clerk. Thank you for speaking your mind to the DMV, even if the coward never got back to you. Apparently Chuck Broerman is the stereotypical autocrat who gets some kind of self-aggrandizing pleasure in forcing his personal beliefs on his employees and the public. I hadn't heard of this low-life before but I'll be looking for his name in the ballot box in the future.
