Re: “Manitou has recovered, maybe a little too much

When the empty shop fronts are running successful businesses again we can talk about success. Want the homeless to stop smoking pot in public give them somewhere to smoke it in peace. Perhaps use the opportunity for outreach to make sure they are practicing fire safety and offer them incentives to clean up after each other.

Re: “Hash oil explosions on the rise

Education is key here. These explosions are happening because people are following YouTube tutorials and doing their extractions without a closed loop system. With the proper equipment and training the risk of explosion is about as high as it is for your gas grill. Not to mention CO2 extraction which has zero chance for explosion. People should have the right to make extracts from their plants in their own homes, or for their neighbors and friends. Making the proper equipment more readily available and affordable while offering or even requiring certification courses is the solution to this problem.

Re: “Tennessee man says quality of Colorado Springs weed 'is an absolute fraud'

At recreational Marijuana stores in Manitou Springs potency labeling is mandatory. You can't get stiffed on the quality when it is right there on the label what % of THC is in your flower or other Marijuana product. Our first Recreational Marijuana shop should be open soon. We also require contaminant testing nobody wants to smoke pesticides or mold. Alternatively if they are interested in trying edibles or concentrates I am sure we can find someone with experience that would be willing and able to help her learn how to regulate her dosage. We are in fact considering enacting legislation that will require this type of training before some people are allowed to purchase high potency edibles and concentrates. Marijuana legalization is new and there will be bumps in the road, but here in Manitou we hope to make the path easier and safer to navigate for any interested in traveling down it.
