To the author: I was born and lived in Slovakia for many years, I've never heard of anything you described in your article. Could you possibly have something called LANGOS (it pronounces LANGOSH) ? It resembles the Indian nan bread and sellers in the stalls put on it whatever they think people would buy. In most variations they use lots of garlic. Langos originated in Hungary and could be very tasty if prepared properly. It sounds like you had a bad luck with your choice of food. I am sure you also must have found some good food in Slovakia. It's unfortunate you chose this one to represent your Slovak "culinary experience".
