Re: “Letters

With regards to your column titled “The More You NO” it's no wonder that there are many people like me who read your paper that don't take your political views seriously at all.

With the national polls showing just about every democrat running for office losing in a race for the upcoming mid term elections, including most of the ones here in Colorado, your paper decides to endorse all democrats? It's apparent that you're paper takes the Obama view in that you're not listening to the voice of the people. After 2 years of democratic control in congress and senate the one accomplishment that the democrats can hang their hat on (which ironically they don’t campaign on) is the passage of the health care bill. That’s something the majority of the people in our country don't want. They’ve spent trillions of dollars but has it been on anything that has improved our economy? They’ve sent stimulus checks to dead people as well as people who are incarcerated? Instead of concentrating on creating new jobs to help all of the unemployed they have spent almost a year and a half on passing the health bill. There has been no increase in jobs which is the biggest issue in the country since 2008. In fact the unemployment rate hit 10.1% just recently right before the mid term elections in November. Does the Independent remember the September 20th town hall meeting where the following question was asked by a middle class African American woman? "I'm one of your middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I'm exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for," a woman told President Obama at a town hall. "My husband and I have joked for years that we thought we were well beyond the hot dogs and beans era of our lives, but, quite frankly, it's starting to knock on our door and ring true that that might be where we're headed again, and, quite frankly, Mr. President, I need you to answer this honestly. Is this my new reality?"

It’s comical when your paper endorses every candidate that represents the party that's been empowered over the last 2 years where our economy has progressively gotten worse. I guess you’re suggesting we endure more of the same. I believe the people of this country have had enough of that. It's a fine example why your paper for me is used primarily for reading the articles that tell us what's going on our in town socially, where to visit new restaurants and what’s going on locally for cultural events.
