Mothers, New Madrid, Holly Macve, Acid Dad, Briffaut

When: Mon., March 21, 8 p.m. 2016
Price: donation

Finally, a mom and pop show comes to the all-ages Flux Capacitor: Mom, in this case, would be the band Mothers, who evolved from an art-school project by frontwoman Kristine Leschper. In one live video, the Athens, Georgia singer-songwriter can be found playing banjo while her hair gets cut off by what appears to be a masked extra from the Eyes Wide Shut party scene. The good thing is that Mothers can also play understated but sharply etched melodic rock that wouldn't sound out of place on Bar/None Records. Brooklyn's Acid Dad, who are clearly less interested in haircuts, come from the more rockist end of the psych-rock spectrum. Both acts have been cropping up on critics' "bands to watch" lists lately, so consider yourself warned. 8 p.m., 3530 Chelton Loop N, donation, — Bill Forman
