Re: “UPDATE: Here we go again ... AFA and religion

TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE at USAFA, from Gould on down. It's disgraceful. Why would cadets, who are presumably SINGLE, need notification of a marriage and family seminar, anyway? I would think this might be appropriate only as the various denominations decree (not just Evangelical), for those having June Week weddings. After all, we presume the cadets learned about "family" at home, before they were sent off to CoS.

Re: “'I'm done with him'

@Col Dave Hughes: Sir, I am rarely at a loss for words. Your post, however, has stunned me with its extreme level of hatred. To paraphrase you, "as far as I am concerned..." the last paragraph of your post should have YOUR name inserted, not Mr. Weinstein's. THEN it would be accurate.

@Ender, I apologize for referring to you as a simpleton.

Re: “'I'm done with him'

Apparently my comments were not clearly written. @Ender: What constitutionally protected activity are you referring to? Proselytization at a tax-payer funded military academy? NO, you simpleton, "all-down" is not my tolerance is the answer. Just as "inappropriately displayed girlie pictures" left in place on the job can and will lead to allegations of a hostile work environment, so too will inappropriate and uninvited religious evangelization cause exactly what we are seeing now, complaints of religious intolerance.
I don't care one way or another whether Protestant cadets turn Catholic or Catholic cadets turn Wiccan. What I CARE about is that those decisions are truly a matter of exercising FREE WILL, and not as the result of an overbearing and unrelenting superior's behavior.
I am gratified to see that you agree Catholics being told they are not Christian enough is buffoonery of the first order. Many of the MRFF clients are Catholics (and non-evangelical Protestants, as well) who have been told exactly that. So glad to have found common ground with you.

Re: “'I'm done with him'

My husband is an Academy grad who served a full career, taught both flying and academics while at the Zoo. Our eldest kid was born at USAFA hospital and baptized in the Catholic Cadet chapel. I must say I am offended to read/hear that some folks at USAFA say being Catholic isn't "Christian enough". Yes, I have read the compelling stories submitted by cadets to MRFF AND, more to the point, have talked face-to-face with current cadets and recent grads. The proselytization exists. So @ USAFA '89, we HAVE done "some research". The point is: if even ONE cadet, academician or active-duty member at USAFA feels pressured to discuss or defend their religion, etc...that is ONE too many. Period. Similarly, back in the late 80s I visited my husband in his (flying) squadron office (not AFA). I noticed "girlie" pics under the glass on someone else's desk. Having left a civilian job in the legal profession, where care was taken to avoid such POTENTIALLY offensive situations, I advised my husband to make sure the pics were removed before female squadron members saw them. Same principle; AVOID the impropriety by eliminating the act entirely.
