Re: “Let's have a look at that...

I guess I'm a little ignorant when it comes to contracts and business deals but it seems that Ms Martin may be mired in this a little too much the same way Lionel was mired in the USOC debacle. From the facts it sounds like Memorial Hospital has given care to the poor and needy without any cost to the city or the taxpayers. So, why is the city so dead set on getting rid of the hospital? In my opinion it's so someone can make a buck.
The USOC mess showed us that all the promises in the world are not going to make any money for the city. We, the taxpayers, paid out $53 million dollars for what? The next year we were told that the city was $26 million in the hole and that services had to be cut or privatized. These are the same people telling us the city will make money from this deal. All we need to do is shell out another $42 million and will get hundreds of millions in return.
I don't think the skunk needs to spray me twice to know that something stinks about this deal. The hospital has been doing fine and gives great care now. My wife is living proof of that. My neighbor works there and it's not very reassuring to know that she has a guaranteed job...for six months. Kind of like her husband who works for the city and lives under the constant threat that his job could be "privatized" and he would have to either take a pay cut to work for the contractor or be without work. Nice going Mayor.
This is a case of fool me once, shame on you (USOC deal). Fool me twice, shame on me. Vote NO on the Memorial Hospital deal.
