He’s back: The rapper with the most persistent shaving nick in hip-hop history; Kelly Rowland’s other boo in their chart-topping “Dilemma”; head of the household on the BET reality show Nellyville. Yes, Nelly has done it all.

The St. Louis native, who began life as Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., launched a multi-platinum career with his 2000 debut album Country Grammar and was soon dominating the charts with singles like “Hot in Herre,” “Ride Wit Me” and “Grillz.” With his reported net worth of $60 million, Nelly became the fourth-richest rapper in hip-hop history.

And while his debut album’s title was a bit of a misnomer, he would more than make up for that by collaborating on the bestselling “Over and Over” with country superstar Tim McGraw. From there, Nelly went on to record with Florida Georgia Line and, in 2017, joined the country duo and the Backstreet Boys on their perversely diverse “Smooth Stadium Tour.” All of which should make his current tour with fellow “Dirty South” rapper Ludacris a welcome return to form.
